Anjunadeep in full sunset mode, and I’m not remotely mad about it. “Nomad” pairs Feiertag’s live-band warmth with the Wisternoff and Grant production polish, and the result is deep house that actually breathes — real-sounding drums, a bassline with genuine give in it, none of that rigid grid stiffness that plagues the genre. It unfolds slowly, the way the best Anjunadeep tracks always do, layering in elements until around 3:30 when the groove hits full stride and you realize you’ve been nodding along without even noticing you started. Jody Wisternoff has been doing this for literally decades and his fingerprints are all over the arrangement’s patience. This is music for the drive home as the sun comes up, not for the peak of the night. There’s a melodic figure that arrives past the midpoint that I now find myself waiting for on every listen. It demands nothing from you and rewards everything you give it. Deep house that remembers to be gorgeous without ever settling for being wallpaper. Lovely, unhurried stuff.
