Eynka - Make You Happy

Put this on during a grey afternoon hoping for a lift and got a polite one. Make You Happy is Armada-issue trance doing exactly what the title promises and not one thing beyond it. Eynka is a new-ish name on the biggest trance label in the world, and this is a clean, uplifting vocal trance record of the kind Armada ships by the crate: a soaring female topline, a supersaw drop engineered for a festival sunrise, that familiar surge designed to make a field full of people throw their hands up. It is cleanly made and completely weightless. I kept waiting for one moment that actually stopped me, and it never arrived, because stopping you is not what this track is for. It is for the drop at the main stage when everyone already has their arms in the air, and in that exact context it will probably do the job beautifully. On a laptop on a Tuesday it is wallpaper. Pretty wallpaper with a good key change, but wallpaper. Trance this frictionless needs the crowd to finish it. Alone, it just floats past.
