• Crumb Pit - Down 2 Wait

Crumb Pit is a fantastic name for a producer, and Down 2 Wait does a good job living up to its weirdness. This is bass music with a sense of humour buried in the sound design — bouncy, a little unhinged, the kind of track that throws a rubbery noise at you and dares you to take it seriously. NCS gets used as background fuel for a million gaming streams, but every so often one of their releases actually demands you look up from whatever you’re doing, and this is one of them. The groove is genuinely infectious, all elastic low end and skittering rhythm, far more fun than menacing. It’s the sort of thing that’s impossible to sit still to and a little embarrassing to be caught dancing to alone in the kitchen at midnight. The restraint to keep it this playful instead of going full aggression is what makes it stick. Copyright-free or not, a good track is a good track, and Crumb Pit quietly made one of theirs.

1-min read. About as long as a Coldplay key change takes to ruin a song.
